Ã-lactamase inhibitor extends Ã-lactam antibiotic spectrum
- Amoxycillin diffuses readily into most body tissues and fluids with the exception of the brain and spinal fluid.
- Amoxycillin, active against Gram +ve & Gram -ve bacteria, susceptible to degradation by beta-lactamases
- Clavulanic acid inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes and protects amoxycillin from degradation and extends the antibiotic spectrum
